Transmission towers vandalised

6 June 2014

Two electricity transmission towers on a high voltage line emanating from Kamburu hydropower station collapsed today after vandals stole support bracings at Brookside area in Ruiru, Nairobi.

Unavailability of the line may cause shortage of power to parts of Nairobi’s Industrial Area for a short period this evening, Kenya Power Chief Manager for Energy Transmission, Eng. Benson Muriithi has said.

Eng. Muriithi said Company technicians are working to ensure that the towers are reinstated and power supply normalized by Saturday evening.
